Bear proofing 3D targets
« on: May 20, 2009, 01:38:00 AM »
Just thought I would pass on what appears to have finally worked in keeping the bears off of our clubs 3-D animals when left out over night during 2 day shoots.  We tried all sorts of mothballs and pinsole etc. But in the end it was a garbage bag over the head of the target at the end of the day. I guess if the bears  dont see eyes and face its not an animal or some such rational, anyway seems to work.

When I was young I worked at a Golf course and a bear would tear up the greens. He would pull the cup up and root for grubs. We had to pull the flags  every evening and he wouldn't bother them.

I think the target companys put flavoring in them. This way the bear eats them and we buy more targets!!!! They drive me nuts!

Carve one out of plastic explosive and then hire Bill Murry to set them off.

Does anybody but me see the humor in that thread title?    Here we are, guys who make phony 3D bears to put in the woods so we can pretend to shoot bears, and what's our concern?   How to keep bears away from our bears!   Maybe I'm weird, but it strikes me really funny...
