Shawn - (or anyone)
What is the hardness difference between the 190 ElGrande, and the 100 grain heads ??
I have some friends Im turning on to the 'benefits' of 2 blade single bevel heads
Thanks...and keep those heads coming !

eightwgt, do a search. I know the information has been posted before. 190s are supposed to be harder. Sharpster would know.

EIGHTWGT, the target for hardness on the 100-160 gr heads is 50-52 rockwell, the El Grandes in 150 and 190 slighty harder at 51-53.

From my experience the 190s are harder than the 150s.

I'd say all of them are hard enough to stick in an ironwood tree Tom!

I have to say from the 20Dz I've sharpened the 190 are hard as hell, some times just slides across a millbasterd file, wont cut into it at all.
I think the 160's a lot softer, if we use what SlowBowinMO said, 160 @ 50 Rockwell and the 190 @ 53 Rockwell those 3 points make a big deference.

AMEN to Kingwouldbe. Until I started using my disc sander to change the angle on the 190, I had to heat some of the heads up to soffen them enough to get a file to remove metal.

I use a low speed wet grinding wheel and they take about 20 min each first attempt. After that, about 1 min each to resharpen or re-strop. RAZORS
