Glue for bareshafting
«

I am bareshafting some of my first carbons. I don't want to lose any points or inserts but might have to get it out and cut some off. What should I use as a temporary adhesive?

Hot melt is probably your best bet. You can just heat up the field tip (not the carbon) and it will pull out without much trouble but stay in no problem during the tuning process.

I just did what I should have done in the first place. use the Search feature. I'll just glue it in good and cut from the back end.

You can also use a plastic bag (little square of it) and "bag" them in. It'll hold them tight tenough to go through the process.....and removal is pretty simple.

Not a bad idea GMMAT, might have to try that.

Don't cut from the back on tapered arrows!

Since I cap/crest all mine before tuning (you want the arrow exactly as you would shoot it normally), I always cut from the tip. I use just a tiny drop or two for the insert. Usually, it's enough to keep the tip from coming off in my dirt mound I test into and still fragile enough to break free with a twist of the pliers on the field point.

use plastic wrap around the insert. It won't come out until you pull it out.

I just tried cellophane and shot into a bag target for the first time. It worked great.
