Jim, nice looking heads! I have used banding like Jay Massey used, and old saw blades. I'm going to give some edger blades a try. Flatstick on here, has been making and using some of saw blades and has had great success! Good shooting, Steve

I'll be hunting with them his fall too. no pics of mine yet, though they'll have a similar profile to the abowyer heads.
I make 'em out of 1075 spring steel. That way I know
exactly
what I'm doing and how they'll perform. Recycled steels and guesswork is fun and all, but for the little bit of shop time I've been getting using known high quality steels is worth the few extra bucks - pun intended
Tippit has some marvellous forged heavyweights from his knife steel and Doug has done some outstanding damascus heads.

Home made YES I shoot my own heads however they are machined 3 blade heads made from 1.25 dia 440 SS bar stock. So far I've only taken 1 deer with my heads but I only shoot them from a tree stand so I know where to look for them

Thanks for the pics gents.
I'm just finishing up four I've made out of A2 tool steel. 3:1 ratio with single bevel edge. heat treated to 59-60 Rc.
I was inspired by some of the work you guys have been doing and it's good to see the successful hunts using them, makes me think mine just might work. Once I get my hickories in I'll throw them on a few shafts and see how they fly.

Here'a a couple trade heads given to me by Dean Torges. 135 gr and die stamped. If I wrap them on with .020 safety wire, that should up the weight a bit. Maybe this year.
