It was great to see Curt (and Pete) in an article just a few pages from mine.
Speaking for me personally, I believe we owe Bowhunter Magazine a lot of gratitude. They have LONG held the line versus crossbows, and have frequent articles from traditional bowhunters like myself as well as two or three issues each year with special 'Stickbow Sections' in them. While they certainly have articles from hi-tech guys in there, they do a great job of supporting what we do as well.
You'd be surprised how often articles by us trad guys (in the mainstream mags) get others interested in what we do. I've corresponded numerous times with Brandon Ray, another guy who had an article in that issue of BHM, and he's getting more and more in to trad archery alongside his compound ways. I love TBM obviously, but if we only preach to the choir over there, we fail to recruit. That's why I try to write for both magazines as my primary goal (along with the PBS mag).
And BHM Editor Dwight Schuh's example of using his teeth to draw his bow when he had shoulder surgery or something was HUGE for those of us who still believe archery should involve something hard and require real effort. He, too, is an advocate for what we do even while he normally shoots a compound.
