Help me with choosing a broadhead
«

Well I have been slinging field points out of my 50# at 28" black swan hybrid for quite a few months and decided that I should start looking at getting some broadheads for the old girl.
I am currently shooting 30" beman mfx classics 500 at 9.7 gpi with 100 grains up front. 125 grains shoot just as well and I could always go a little heavier in front if someone suggests a good broadhead (could add weight up front and shortern the arrows up to 2" to get good flight again)
So what does everyone suggest? Looking for something fairly cheap ($20 for 3, preferbly cheaper if you know of something)
I have been looking at maybe getting the magnus stingers or buzzcuts, either the 2 blade or 4.
I really want to avoid 3 blades as well, because if i hit a shoulder blade it needs to break the bone in 3 different directions instead of 1 with a 2-blade and 2 directions with a 4 blade.
Thanks everyone, i know this question is probably common but i looked in the past 3-4 pages and didn't see anything so now is a good time to say what you really like to use.

How about 150 gr. 2 blade Magnus Stingers. Available at Braveheart (one of our sponsors) for 21.99 for 3. Lifetime guarantee...tough to beat.

might look into them, just been thinking a lot lately about adding another 50-100 grains, this would be a good place to add the weight if my spine doesn't get messed up too bad

Read Ashby's latest update on penetration results. It's revealing. 2 blade heads only for me over 30 years..no problems.

so which broadhead would you suggest straitera?
I have really been thinking about getting the 2 blade-stingers for a long time. Just wondering what everyone thinks about either adding an additional 50 grains up front by getting the 150gr, or sticking with my 100 grains and adding some kind of weight tubing/other material?

That new woodsman looks pretty good. A 3 blade but longer profile machined instead of welded. I like the Zwickey delta too.

Zwickey Deltas, Ace Standards or Woodsmans would all be good. These are all going to be over 125 gr when you add the adapter; about 40 gr for the long ones, I think. To some degree, what you are hunting will affect which broadhead you choose. For deer or bear, any of the above would be a fine choice and well within your cost range.

I've shot a lot of heads and can't get away from Bear 125gr. This year I have many others to choose from including Zwickey, Tusker, Magnus, Stos, Ace, & LaFond in weights from 135gr to 175gr. I hope eventually to modify all to 150gr single bevel adding adapters if needed. 150gr single bevel chisel point Bear glue ons would be a perfect choice if they made them. Hill Big 5 82#@28".

Grizleys or Tusker Concords sharpened up by Ron from KME. Razor sharp 2 blade single bevel will do the job for ya.

I am currently shooting STOS. 145 grain head with a 100 grain insert. I would have to say that they sharpen great and fly awesome. I also like 6 are 24.95 not 3 for 24.95. They have the same dimensions as a grizzly Which I was looking for to get the most penetration I could. Which I origionally was going to shoot Grizzly until I tried to sharpen them. I am not as skilled as some in that department. I like simplicity, durability, and ease of use. STOS fit the bill.

I think I might give the tusker concordes a try, since they finish out at about 175 or so that is about the weight I am going to want. I guess I could always just buy some glue-ons and use a short adapter to shave another 15 grains off as well to put me at about 160 grains
Thanks everyone, now I just need to get in touch with Ron at KME

grizzly 160s for a 2 blade or the new woodsman head for a three blade. Can't go wrong with any of the name brand trad heads these days. They will do their thing if you do yours!!

Magnus I heads with the aluminum adapter or Zwicky Delta`s would be my choice.
In all honsety no matter the broadhead your in trouble if you hit the shoulder. I would not base my choice on that. What if you gut shoot`m ? do you want a small 1" slit or a 1 1/2 slit? Myself I prefer a snuffer lately.RC
