My 40 year old Hoyt Pro Medalist Hunter by Earl Hoyt Jr.

I looked over ten years trying to find a qood condition bow in a suitable hunting weight. Purchased from a man whoes father bought the bow new.

I shoot the bow all the time, esp. in our trad bowhunter leage.

I hunt with it every season.

I hunted with a '59 Grizzly last season and am hitting the woods with a '59 Kodiak Special this year.  Or is it a '59 Polar?  '59 Kodiak?  Hmmm... decisions decisions  :D

Next year will be with a '55 Polar.

Well, I haven't hunted with it, but if I ever get a chance at pigs, I'll use a bow Howard Hill built for himself in the mid-60's.   I shoot it and it's up to the job.  It was a late in life bow for him and is 50@28, though I only pull 42 with it.  I can't shoot it all day or even for a full 3D, but I can handle it for a couple of dozen shots OK.

I have a 57 Kodiak and a  69 Shakspeare Ocala that I hunt with. I  also just acquired an older Root which I intend to hunt with this fall.  In the first pictur the Kodiak is the middle bow and the Shakspeare is the bottom bow. The second picture shows a close up of the Shakespeare with one of the two turkeys I killed with it this spring. I thought I had a picture of the Root but I can't seem to find it. I love all my bows but it sure is fun resurrecting these old classics!

To me, the ultimate challenge in bowhunting is not how far away you can succesfully make a killing shot but rather how close you can get to the animal before shooting.
