I was setting in camp at Cloverdale early this morning when Ed walked into camp. He visited with our group for about 30 minutes or so and I tell you, that man is a character. He had heard that I loaned my copy of his book out here on tradgang so he brought me another one. It was a real pleasure to talk with Ed and he mentioned that he would like to go to a couple of bow shoots with us.....as long as one of us would drive! LOL!! Ed doesn't like to drive on anything more than a 2 lane road. He once told me about the route he took to Colorado for elk hunting. I told him I didn't about any of the highways/roads he mentioned and asked how long it took him to get there, thinking it must be some secret shortcut. I had figured it at about 20-22 hours. He said if everything went right, he could make in 30 hours, maybe less! LOL!! Hope any of you that made it Cloverdale got the chance to visit with him a bit! Mike

Mike, I received a letter 2 weeks ago from Ed asking how I was doing. I sent him one back and today I received an audio tape of his hunt from last year along with a 2 page letter and a feather. If you're still at Cloverdale give him my regards. Fred
Do not follow where the path may lead.  Go, instead, where there is no path and leave a trail.

Fred, I am at home now, but I will pass on your regards when I see him next. Mike

I missed the ol' coot this year. I met him at GLLI many years ago and bought his book, good read. I always talk to him when I see him. He's the real deal.

Randy, he is starting to slow a little.....but not much! LOL!! He made the rounds in the campground on Friday and Saturday. I had to leave mid-day Saturday so I don't know if he was back on Sunday or not. Mike

Ed is the real deal--I really like the guy. He is a genuine soul, no hidden agenda, no secret society B.S. Ed tells it like it is and he has his own views about archery, bowhunting and the world.

I would love to get a group of guys to hit the rod for a distant shoot like we use to. I would love to help Ed relive a little of his past. He is a true ambassador for the traditional archery fraternity.

Mike, Maybe next year, when I am totally healed up from the shoulder surgery, you, me and a few others can take Ed on the road and show him a good time. I am game, how about you??
If your bow has a trigger, it's not a bow. If your bow has a trigger and a stock, it's an abomination.

I forgot to add that Ed gave me and my kids a nice batch of hand made gifts, like he always does.

Ed is a very giving guy and he gives freely his time, his soul and his gifts--

Thanks Ed!!!

PJ, Sounds good to me. Ed mentioned he'd like to go to some other shoots....he just doesn't like to drive himself. Let's do it! Mike
