New Bow
« on: June 13, 2009, 10:33:00 PM »
Getting closer to ordering... For those who don't know, I'm upgradeing my 35 year old Indian Seneca (AMO58; 45-50#; maple & glass recurve purchased in 1975 for $19.00 on clearance in K-Mart; Shoots like a dream). Hopeing to get a little more speed and perhaps better performance, which, I have been advised, is highly unlikely.

So... had narrowed it down to a Martin Mamba or Bear Cheyenne, but then someone suggested a Bob Lee and I must say, their one piece recurves look really nice!

Any Bob Lee shooters out their that can give me some Pro & Con on these bows?

Many Thanks!

I can honestly say that if you like a mid weight to heavy riser bow they will shoot great for you.

Bob Lee would be great choice.

I don't think I've ever heard a bad word about a Bob Lee bow.  They are quick, stable, and reliable.  Backed up with years of bow making knowledge, talent, and experience.  There are other bows that might suit someones particular style better but you can't beat the Lee's for having a great all around bow that is pretty much fool proof.  I sold one to a fellow just a while back and felt really good that the gentleman was getting a dependable bow that will serve him well in any situation.

I've had 3 and loved them all. I just tend to lean towards longbows a bit more. The Bob Lee Hunter T/D is one of the best recurves I have ever shot next to my daughters Javaman Tanjavur and a Pittsley Predator.
Just one more step please!

I just got a new Bob Lee take down a couple of weeks ago.  It's fast, quiet and feels real good in my hand.  I love it so far and will probably love it more when I get the chance to hunt with it.

Have not heard any negative about a Bob Lee bow.

Also, it was one of the bows on special right now, so I got a great price on it.

Never heard negative things about Bob Lee bows.
Was shooting some of them from my buddys.
Felt good in my hand, arrow speed is ok, nice to draw. As good as any quality recurve.
And the look is a matter of taste.

Many thanks Guys!  I guess the thing to do is go ahead and order one.  I'll order a Mamba to compare and will even check to see if Black Widow has a demo in stock.  I guess that if I can't find a winner between the three, my $19.00, 35 year old Seneca is indeed a very special bow! I'll post the results in a couple weeks.

Thanks again!

You CAN NOT go wrong with an RER. Just my opinion, but, I think in the top 2 or 3 recurves out there today.

Many Thanks Guys! The deed is done- sorta.  Ordered both the BOb Lee (54"/53#) and the RER (58"/50#) and will shoot 'em both to see which I shoot best.  After all the rave reviews I've read on the two manufacturers, I'm not even going to mess with the Martin Mamba or Bear Cheyenne at this point.

I'll post the winner in a week or so.  Again, MANY THANKS!
