carbon express terminators
« on: June 15, 2009, 11:51:00 PM »
Hello all. I recall a couple of weeks ago there was a thread that referenced Gold Tips shafts snapping on glancing shots.  I had thought it was the result of extreme abuse, but there I was last weekend stumping and broke 2 GT 5575 hunters in about 15 seconds. That same thread mentioned Carbon Express terminators, and the Beeman mfx as tough. I am interested in the opinions of anyone who has shot and abused the newer Terminator selects in 4560 spine. I have had good luck with CX heritage 150 with std insert and 145 grain heads but am looking for a set up with higher FOC. Any opinions on a tough set up for a 52 pound (@30) not quite center cut bow with a 31 inch arrow that would finish between 550-600+grains?

The Terminator 45/60's I had at one time were tough as nails!!! I have two arrows that are 6 yrs old and I'm still flinging them at squirrels. I would still be shooting them if I could afford to shoot carbon, I just get sick when I loose an $8 arrow shaft. I think they are 11 gpi too, making them on the med-heavy side for hunting.

I shot them with 125 grain heads out of a 53# Pittsley Predator. My arrows were cut to 29 inches and zipped right through deer with no problem.
Not sure how much FOC you can load them up with as mine seemed to be weak when I put more than 145 grains up front of a 29 inch shaft.
Just one more step please!

I have broken one CX terminator in about 7 years.  Down to my last couple dozen and will be disappointed when they are gone.  I bang them off rocks with no problems.

They are out of production and about the only way you can get them is on **** and that's rare.

The Terminator Selects are a much better arrow than the Heritge (for me).  You can also go with the Rebels which are cheaper than both and seem to be better than the Heritage too.  I love CX shafts but for some reason have had bad flight with the Heritage.

The MFX is as tough as old boots in a head-on collision with pretty much anything! However, on a glancing blow, they tend to snap about 5-8" in front of the nock.

Thanks for all the input guys. On the way home from work I snagged a small digital pocket scale and weighed my CX Heritage 150 set up. They came in at 530 grains and 570 with a length of weedeater line inside.  This is plenty heavy for my purposes.  I will likely order more of these. I have been extremely impressed with these from a durability standpoint, and won't have to retune. Like other newbie posters on this site, I appreciate the responses and the sharing of your experience.

I think the Terminator Selects are no longer being made since smaller diameter shafts came into style.  I have a couple dozen that I've grown pretty protetcive of.  I save them mostly for hunting.
I find the older I get, the less I used to know!
