is 165fps at 11.4gr/# good?
« on: June 27, 2009, 11:00:00 PM »
i just chrono'ed my 69# recurve. with 790gr arrows it was averaging 165fps at the bow. with a dacron string too.
any idea what speed it might be doing at 20m?  4x4" shield cut feathers with helical.

how much would i expect to gain by switching to D97?

Assuming you've got a normal draw length, that's very respectable.  I had a Martin Dream Catcher a few years back that would chrono in the low 160's with just under 12 gr/# and an 8125 string.

You should get about 5 or so fps faster with a d97 string. That is fast. I love D97.

Sounds like a good set up to me....I'd leave it alone 5 fps don't mean noth'n!
