Take down limb noise?
«
on:

Sometime I seem to get a little noise from the limb connection of my take down LB. I put some string wax on it and it helps.
I have seen cork used ,how about rubber? How thick?
Just thought I would try something else.

I had a little noise from the joints on my Badger recurve. I put some very thin deerskin under the limbs and the noise hasn't returned. Once I determined that this was going to work, I glued it to the riser with Barge cement...problem solved!

Almost anything between limb and riser will cut the noise, cork, leather, paper, etc. Rubber is prone to slipping, but will quiet the bow while it is in place.

Thanks for the help guys. I will see if I can find some thin cork or I may have some leather that will work.

I had the same problem a while back. Asked here and got some great suggestions, but what I ended up doing was buying a sheet of adhesive backed felt at Wal-Mart. Cost was less than $2 for a sheet that would make 6 to 8 limb pads. The stuff I found was just the right thickness and a breeze to cut-to-size and install. Good luck!

Has anyone tried the adhesive backed cork shelf liner . Lowe's web sight lists some that is .039 thick. But cost more than $2

I have some bows where the alignment bolts are too shallow for cork or anything like. I have taken to making gaskets cut from a plastic baggie. Very thin and no more noise. I would be leery of felt or leather because of how long they would tend to hold moisture.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I tried some of the adhesive backed cork shelf liner from Lowe's and it worked quite well.

Transparent tape, like packing tape, works well and can be trimmed to the proper size.

I used a layer of scotch tape. Worked well, easy to apply.
