A weekend with Rod Jenkins
« on: June 28, 2009, 09:29:00 PM »
I joined a group of Wisconsinites this weekend for a shooting class with Rod Jenkins.  I knew my shooting needed some help, and I sure wasn't disappointed!  I've spent a lot of money on new bows, arrows, and miscellaneous equipment over the years, always looking for the holy grail that will be the answer.  After this weekend I think I have actually found it!

Class covered basic shooting form from the grip on through the actual shot.  I knew about much of it before from reading and honestly thought I was at least trying to do it right.  But the improvement we all made over a short two days was simply incredible!

I have things to work on, but I have complete confidence that I have found the answer I have been looking for.  If you ever have a chance to take a class or leasons from Rod don't pass it up!

I guess I need to look into that.  Like you said it would be money well spent.  How do you contact and set something up?

Be careful if you take Rod's class. You may need new arrows. Longer ones!

You've got that right!  Luckily I have a couple dozen uncut carbons and a pile of POC's to get to work on!
I was staying with TerMaat's and Saturday night I handed Kevin my RER LX and told him to take some weight off the limbs because I'm drawing it a LOT further than I used to!

I thoroughly enjoyed working with everyone at the WI clinic and MI earlier in the week!

It's very special watching even long time archers get excited as they begin to "get it"

Everyone did great! Thanks for the open minds  :notworthy:

Thanks Rod, especially for not throwing your hands up and hollarin'"I can't teach this imbecile nothing!" Even if you were thinking it at first. Head up and stand like a big dog!!!

That's great to hear Whip. Good to hear how Rod is helping us to improve and enjoy our passion even more. We all can improve in some way. I am really looking forward to experiencing this myself. Thanks for posting.

Rod is a great guy.  I've wanted to go to every one of his classes, but something is always wrong for me schedule wise.  Last weekend at Compton, I asked Rod if he could head out to the range with me and make sure I was "aligned".  As busy as he is, he made time for me.  He watched me shoot, had me make a couple adjustments, and marked up an arrow so I could set up a clicker on my new bow to know I was at the right point.

Sooner or later I am going to get to class for the whole "treatment"   ;)

I also attended the same class this past weekend with Rod Jenkins along with "Whip" and others who were seriously interested in improving their shooting.  It was terrific to see the positive change that Rod helped to iniate in each of us by the conclusion of the class.
Oh! and the home cooking by Sue, was absolutely phenominal!!!!!!!!!!!!!,wouldn't you agree Whip?
