Skinny string on old bow
« on: June 29, 2009, 04:02:00 PM »
Has anyone here actually broken an old bow with a skinny string and padded loops? For example an old 60# bear bow and 6strand 8125 or d97 padded to 14strands at the loops. Also didn't a lot of the old bows have glass tip overlays? Wouldn't that make them fast flight compatable? I am asking because I have never heard of a case like this.

I wouldn't shoot it on an older bow,you may get by for awhile. But I don't believe the glues used on older bows are as good as today.Plus I think older recurves just can't take the new string materials. For me I just used dacron on my older recurves. But I usally like an endless loop dacron on them.
