Snake skin ideas (how to make a quiver please)
« on: June 29, 2009, 08:59:00 PM »
Just shot a nice rattler today and I'd like to use the skin, but I don't want to put it on my limbs.  What are some other options?  Still in the field, will post pics of it later BTW.

Thanks,

Zane

Quiver, armguard, knife sheath, cresting on arrows, or just hang it on the wall.

I really like the idea of a using it with a quiver.  We skinned it and tacked it to a board.  Anyone have pics of the snake quiver or know how to do it?

I have a few pics of a quiver covered with eastern Diamond Back that I did some years ago. I'll try and get it loaded tonight. I tanned it with Rittels ez 100. It keeps the same color that the live snake has. RS

That would be great.  Looking forward to seeing them.  Stopped by Mark Horne's shop today and ended up talking with him for a bit about it but I'd like to see some finished products.

A friend from Florida sent the skin, I tanned it before glueing and sewing it to the main part of the quiver. I laced the quiver together in the back after the snakeskin was on. There was enough snakeskin left to inset a foot of the tail into the strap.
