I'm pretty sure arrow wraps unlimited has those.  They are a sponsor.

Steve,

Having met Clay and seen his bow(s) and arrow(s) work, I am sure that he means the real birch bark.  He does some very nice primitive (whatever that means) work.

Clay, I have never done it.  Maybe you might also post on the bowyers forum.

Never tried it, but you might be able to strip off the outside layer of "paper" to use as a wrap.  The bark itself, of course, will vary from 1/8 to 1/4-inch thick.

:clapper:

I had no idea!

I'd love to see some pictures of that.

I made my bow rack from a birch log.  I split it, peeled off the outer layer, sealed it, and glued the birch bark back on before bolting it too the wall...that is about as creative as I get!

I backed a sinew backed bow with a single layer of birch bark. It was paper thin. I soaked it in warm water just like with snake skins and glued with TB glue. Arrow wrap should work about the same.

Yep, I should have clarified what I'm thinking.  I have a nice chunk of bark and the "paper" peals off redily.  I think I could just glue it on and maybe burnish it a little, but I've never tried it. When I get to it I'll post some pics of the results.

Anyone have any other suggestions?
