There is an small range at Curt Cowdy State Park between Laramie and Cheyenne. I usually shoot in the Happy Jack area (National Forest). It's ten minutes from town. There is plenty of public land to stump shoot.

Laramie Peak Archers in Laramie has a small indoor shooting range in an old commiunty center on the west side of town. Curt Cowdy has a nice outdoor range as said above. If you are here the first weekend in Aug there is a large 2 day outdoor shoot at Curt Cowdy. Run by the Cheyenne Field Archers. Laramie usually has an outdoor shoot on the National Forest coming up soon.

Hope you enjoy your stay, if I can help with let me know.

South of Laramie by a bit is some great moose country, around Rand and Gould (Colorado). Moose, elk, deer, and good fishin'.

Also, the National Forest around the Bull Mountain area is a good place to spend some time. At least it was when I was a pup.

The NF is 10 minutes from here, so you can shoot there.  You could shoot in my backyard, though its only 22 yards max.   There is also state and BLM land within a couple of miles.  Jack had some good ideas too.

Sounds like lots of places to go play!! was born and raised in Lander Wyo., but did not spend much time in Laramie. looks like the son is staying put their, so I may be spending  more time in the area. thanks again for the great ideas.

I'd go to the range @ Curt Gowdy park. Lots of targets in hunting situations as you walk / climb a trail through the hills..very much fun. It's a state park so it costs $2 to enter and there's a post at the beginning of the trail for voluntary donations to the organization that maintains all the targets /trails.
From Laramie, E on I-80 9 mi, exit at the Lincoln monument, left on WY 210,(Happy Jack Rd), then about 13-14 mi to the entrance of the park.
