This has been a great month.A couple weeks ago I drew a Montana bull moose tag.Odds for drawing that tag are 1.3 %.The unit starts about 10 miles from my house and there have been B+C bulls taken there.
My shoulder is not liking the heavy bows these days so I plan to use my 56",53# Mojostik.I believe it actually hits as hard as some 60# bows I've had,
I have spent quite a bit of time figuring out an arrow setup for it.I finally got a set of Goldtip Trad 5575's to work with 290 grs up front and that doesn't count an internal footing that weighs 55 grs.Total weight is 645 grs.
I am amazed at how well this little bow spits those heavy arrows.I'm only drawing about 50#.At 20 yds I don't have to think about holdover.
Ron at KME modified and sharpened some Grizzly El Grande's for me.These things are so sharp you don't have to shoot them. You should be able to just threaten an animal and have him give up.
Last week I saw the pictures of some of JD's in stock bows and took a liking to another 56" Mojostik,48# and had to make the call. This bow has a cocobolo and ebony riser and blond colored limbs.JD thought the veneers were ash but wasn't sure.
Well,it arrived today and what a beauty.I think the limb veneers are quilted maple. They are absolutely striking.
I had to run out and shoot it so I took some 2016's which I had been tuning to the 53# Mojostik, added 30 grs of point weight.I took a few shots and they looked weak so I put the point weight back where it had been for the 53# and they shot pretty good. That didn't seem right so I got out the 645 gr Goldtips and tried them.the bare shafts and fletched hit right together out to 20 yds..
I couldn't believe it.And there was no compensating for hold over at 20 yds.this 48# bow(I'm probably pulling 45.5#)was spitting 645 gr arrows at 20 yds..I probably need to add 5-10 grs of point weight but I still can't believe it.
I love this bow.Here is a picture.
