Tradgang Goose Hunt-Flight Shooting in Texas
« on: July 07, 2009, 09:52:00 PM »
I've had a couple of guys over the years speak of wanting to put together a group of traditional bowhunters and head for the fly-ways of Texas ot flight shoot the millions upon millions of geese Texas has to offer. I've seen nothing transpire so I took the idea and started working in the right direction(with misticguido help).

This is just a primer thread to see how many guys would be willing to meet me(7th Age Bowhunting,LLC) and a large group of Tradgangers for a weekend in the rice fields for a couple days of shooting holes in the sky. Preliminary groundwork has this thing looking like an all inclusive trip with a price tag of around $650 for an all inclusive weekend. This would be two full days of hunting, license fees, Guides, and lodging at the local Best Western.

Hunt dates will be in the first part of November. They have yet to be set pending a good count of interested parties. There will also be a professional TV film crew capturing the event for airing on the Outdoor Channel. If this looks to be an event that you wish to attend then please post a big YES here. Please don't reply if you know there is no way you will be in attendance. Thanks for your interest and time. Curtis

Curtis,

I will be in Texas in November. I need to know the dates. I will be at Solana 4-8 November and at Brushcountry 12-15 November. The rest of the month is wide open and I would love to do this if the dates fall in place.

Curtis,

Will this be for Canadians or Snows or both?

What kinda of blinds are you planning on using.

Shooting will occur from the rice field ditches and small tree lines along the field edges. Mesh netting and camo is the plan. Concealment will definitely be an issue for a longbow shooter. Of course the normal route of attack is to lay flat on your back and shoot straight up. Thats the way the shotgunners do it.

Three species of geese. The snows will be the hardest to get close shots at. To be quite honest, geese are geese to me. I just want some good opportunity to knock some from the air with an arrow. It's been a constant stirring thought since you first mentioned it a few years ago. Hope to see you guys there. We'll be in Elcampo, Texas. CK

Might need a kevlar helmet and body armor for the arrows return trip!  :scared:   LOL! Sounds like a hoot! Or a HONK! depends on how you look at it.  :)

When you have a more definite idea of dates post it up.
I would love to be in on this one, however my 25th anniversary is this November.
But if the dates are right..... I'm there!

Thanks for the replies gang. I posted this thread to see how much interest this hunt would generate. I'll likely not do this hunt unless we have 12 hunters. I have a solid 6 and a couple maybes. I'll secure dates when I know I have the interest of a solid 12 hunters. Thank you for your posts.

Sal, I got your message yesterday. I'll return the call. Jumping through hoops right now. CK
