Rick Welch's new DVD
« on: July 10, 2009, 11:53:00 PM »
I just watched Rick's new DVD. It is nothing fancy, just a really detailed look at Rick's shooting technique. I think it is well worth the money if you want to shoot Rick's style.

Dave and Rick did a super job with this.

Thanks for the honest feedback. I just want people to know that for the last 8 months I have basically (voluntarily) put my life on hold to accomplish 2 things.

1- I wanted to help Rick into a better position, to be more accessible to folks who need help and want to become more accurate. Without going into details, I am confident that I've been successful in that goal.So I want everyone to kow right here right now, that all the posting that I've done on the internet about Rick has been to HELP those who want to know more about Rick Welch.

2- an opportunity to give back to traditional archery. I'm gonna name names here. Jack Whitmire got me into traditional quite a few years ago. He gave me his time, & invested it into me. Ever since I've tried to pay that forward,I've helped a couple guys make the switch. However, this unique opportunity that really took on a life of it's own with Rick Welch, was once in a lifetime opportunity for me. It's very fufilling to know that I had a part in something that for years to come will provide a pathway for dedicated, open minded, traditional bowhunters, interested in Rick Welch's method, to become the most consistently accurate shot they are capable of becoming. So to do all of this for what I feel are the right reasons (pro bono)for the love of the lifestyle, and to help a really genuinely good man, if this isn't giving back/paying it forward I don't know what is.I've just been trying to help. Thanks again.- Dave Mullins.

I enjoyed the video.  Brought me back to 3 years ago or so when I took lessons from him.  Glad to hear Mr. White is still going strong!  Rick is more than just an excellent shot.  He is also a VERY good teacher.  Not to mention he is just a cool guy to hang out with.  The videos he has made will help, but nothing can compare to actual one on one instruction from him.  I have not heard of one person yet who went to his class and did not dramatically improve in only 2 days.  It's not expensive, and I really believe it is the best money I have ever spent on hunting.

As I said Dave, I believe y'all did a good job, and it looks as if you accomplished what you set out to do. There are a lot of us that appreciate your efforts. There are a lot of people who are not archery "experts" and really benefit from this kind of stuff--man, I watch and read a lot of different stuff for the knowledge and pure fun of it.

For any of you that opened this thread just to take a low shot for the simple reason Rick Welch's name was mention, please move on--start your own topic.

JJ, the low shot at Rick if you meant flamers, I don't expect that here. The mods won't stand for it at all. You'll get that over at the you know where.

I have only heard good things about Rick. Watching him shoot a little only reinforces what I have heard. I need to get over to Arkansas sometime and take advantage of his expertise by taking his class.

I just spoke to Rick on the phone. Lisa has been out of town all week, but will be home this evening around 6pm. She will be filling all unfilled orders with the dvds she has left. It looks as though she will have to AGAIN reorder from the distributor, but rest assured EVERYONE WILL get theire dvd order. Thanks for the patience & interest. - Dave Mullins.

P.S.- bayoulongbowman don't you be makin fun of me in my tank top.   :biglaugh:

Dave really enjoyed the dvd. It is a good preparation tool and I am looking forward to Ricks class. It gave me a basis to work from and hopefully I can have some good things ingrained by the time class rolls around. Dave- thanks for your contribution to the archery world and helping Rick get the word out. Dude you aren't too shabby a shot yourself.

Which DVD or DVDs do I need in order to get the instructional material without getting lots of duplication? I had understood that the Instructional DVD 2 had most of the instructions, so does the Accuracy DVD incorporate all of that, or are both needed? At some point I plan to go to Arkansas for the school, but I don't have time for that right now.

Thanks,
Allan

Allan,
get this newest one, it's all you need without redundancy.

I have had target panic for over 10 years, and the only way I have been able to shoot was with a clicker.
After watching this dvd, I went out and tried this method and was shooting great at 20 yards with no clicker! I never thought I'd see the day I could do that.
On a side note,
I'm still having trouble figuring out exactly where to put my thumb on my draw hand. Don't know if i need to just touch the outside of my earlobe with my knuckle, or put my knuckle in the pressure point behind my earlobe?
