Hunterbob, broketooth, mwmwmb, and bowboyand gmmat you are all in. I use fine belt sander for repairs, nicks, broken tips, taking care not to get blade hot. I use a variety of chemicals in cleaning of what I can using a toothbrush, then clean and buff with professional high speed cloth buffing wheels with 240,340,400 and finally 555 grit buffing compound that I use in buffing firearm barrels before I hot blue them. It leaves steel looking like chrome, a must do before bluing, it is onlly as good as the polish. This just takes me a few minutes to do, did thousands for customers when I ran a pro shop/gunshop for years. Well here is my address, get em in the mail with return shipping funds.
