Is Adcock still going to make a one piece longbow?
« on: March 28, 2007, 03:41:00 PM »
I did not see any information on the new web site about it. I was curious if he was going to continue to make a one piece bow. Does anyone know?

Scott,

Right now A&H is only building 3PTD's.  O.L. (Custom Traditional Bows by O.L. Adcock) is primarily working on finishing his custom orders, including 1P bows.  At some point in the future A&H will start making 1P bows, but for right now the only one of us making 1P bows is O.L.

I wonder why there is no mention of the one piece bows on the new web site? Seems a little odd. For some reason I never like the "looks" of a take down bow. Not that I have anything against them or anything. I just like a one piece bow. Anyway if anyone knows anything please share. I am already planning to buy a new bow for next year and just want to weigh out all the options out there.

Slayer you better ask about the wait time to get your bow after it's ordered...I'm sure John will chime in, but last I heard, it was around, or over, 3 years from order to delivery...

O.L. is not taking orders at this time. There are two websites. O.L.'s site and A&H's site.

Kinda like waiting for a Randall   ;)   is there any system in place for a guy to test drive one of these bows or do guys just buy em without ever having tested one?

They do Comptons with a bunch of bows each year. You ever make it up to VT and you can shoot mine.

Marc, the reason that A&H is now building bows is because of that horrible backlog.  O.L. stopped taking orders in late 2004.  A&H is currently building bows at a rate of about 200 per year and we'll hopefully go up from there if demand warrants.  I can't speak for how long folks on O.L.'s custom list will wait.  Our goal at A&H is to fill orders fairly quickly. Exactly what that means I can't yet say since we're just starting up and aren't near anything resembling steady-state operations yet.  Bottom line is we don't want or expect horribly long wait times for those people who get on our waiting list.  It's bad for business and isn't in anybody's best interest.

Slayer1, I'm sure pleased with mine.
Have you ever shot one?
PM me if you're ever up around the upper Roanoke River, and you can test drive one.  :archer:

John, thanks for the pleasure I am enjoying with one of the 3 piece takedowns, too.

John,
Thanks for the info; I'm not blasting you about backlog, I just figured the guy might want to know what's up.

I was just confused about the business relationship. I thought A&H was OL Adcock bows. I guess they are just using his design. Thanks for the info. Wood duck, I may take you up on the test drive deal. I'll let you know.
