Tapered shaft question

Does shooting tapered shafts make a bow react like the bow is cut closer to center than it would if you are shooting parallel shafts?

If you mean a 9-10-inch rear taper, the answer is no because the arrow is still the same full diameter where it meets the strike plate near the point. Breasted or barrel tapered shafts, which are also tapered on the front end, would place the center of the arrow at the front of the shaft just a tad closer to the strikeplate.

Orion, I see what you are saying. Thank you.
My question comes from my point of impact shooting AD Hammerheads out of my 55# Shrew Classic hunter. When I shoot a parallel shaft my POI is a little left of where my POI is when I shoot the Hammerheads.
I had always heard people say a longbow shot left of where you look in comparison to a recurve because of the difference in distance the bows were cut to center. I thought a tapered shaft may have the same result when shot from a longbow when compared to a parallel shaft.

I shoot both parrell and tapered PO cedars and find no difference in shooting! like orion says the taper is behind strike plate! The only difference I had thought would make a difference is maybe nock height but even that didn't change when switching back and forth between parrel and tapers,at least that i could See!! Hope this helps!! Jim

Woodsman: Your results may be due to differences in spine (static or dynamic) between the two shafts. Are they the same length, same weight, weighted the same, same static spine, etc. I assume the ADs are full length tapered. Are they the same diameter near the point as the parallel shafts? If so, then you know the problem isn't caused by shaft diameter, but by one or more of the other factors. Good luck.
