HAs anybody ever tried using oak for arrow shafts?  I was just wondering how they work out.

I got my hands on a bunch of small oak dowels and made some kid's arrows with them , they were almost impossible to keep straight and were hard to taper , maybe I had a bad lot . Also they had grain run-out and seemed to break easier then a softer wood shaft with more flexibility . My expierience , Fred
