Arrow shaft woods

This chart was posted on another part of this site. I thought it was very informative and worth sharing here as well.
Isaiah 49:2...he made me a polished arrow and concealed me in his quiver.

So this is why I love douglas fir shafts so much. It is a great alternative to POC. Fir is, on the average, a little heavier, has good durability and reacts well when shot out of a bow.

Has anyone ever tried white pine shafts?

I'd also love to try some rock maple shafts too.I've been told they're some of the best wood for an arrow.

Snag.. I agree. Always loved Doug Fir. I got a dozen bare shafts drying from a 3rd coat of poly right now. My hunting arrows for this fall! They take stain beautifully. And penetrate harder than cedar or spruce.
Someday you and I will take the Great Hart by our own skill alone, and with an arrow. And then the Little Gods of the Woods will chuckle and rub their hands and say, "Look, Brothers. An Archer! The Old Times are not altogether gone!"
