I've always used 2.Byron Ferguson claims that high speed photography has shown that sometimes an arrow slides down the string, throwing the shot off.

I tie in nocks both above and below. I have seen the high speed video and your nock can slide throwing the shot off. Just my two cents.

This is just an observation from one experience, but a couple of years back, I was shooting with a young fellow who had two brass nocks on, and had apparently installed them too close for his long draw. They pinched the nock somehow, and over the course of the round, he broke or lost almost all the nocks on his arrows. The suggestion above of one brass and a string nock below is probably a good idea, or, of course, both string wrapped.

I use 2, tied on with D97, no brass, i do shoot three under but wanted to shime in on what Dick said. If you use 2, leave about 1/16 to 3/32" between the bottom nock and the arrow nock, if you get them to close it can create a downward torqe of the arrow at full draw and create arrow flight problems.

Two brass nock sets -- one above and one below -- is perfectly fine so long as you leave a little gap between the bottom of your nock and the lower nock set. About two widtchs of serving material seems to work well.

I like two nocks myself. Kinda helps me not to fall apart at the "moment of truth" and nock my arrow in the wrong place. May change from brass nocks to dental floss real soon. Brass beats up my super glove a bit.
