Here are some blades and spear points. The blade in the middle is 5 1/2" long for scale...The guy's who hunt with stone heads might do better by making the heads out of bone, deer leg bone works well, all American abos used bone tech. You could get bone heads real close in size and weight.Most anyone can use a hand saw and some sand paper to make them... Modern hunter's are stuck on getting their stone points as sharp as modern blades... the Abo's would poke a hole in a critter and run it down.Most hunting was by groups of hunters, drivers to push the game into a tight spot so it could be hit with spears, arrows, or clubs. Bows have been in North America for a short time, anywhere from 1200 years to 600 years ago... Good Luck and let it FLY....(These blades are knife's and spear points... Large blade in center is 5 1/4" for scale)

Nice points, but better reduce picture size or they will be pulled rather quickly.

While it's true that Indians used smaller arrowheads than what most of us would normally think of as arrowheads, most heads 1 1/2" long or less were true arrow heads PLUS we are bound by modern law to use larger heads than the ones you are holding in your hand.

Thank you Iron Bull for re-sizing the pic's, I'll have to figure out that dealy..Ferret, use of an ancient arrowhead is all on the size of the base, those points that are tiny on the base were arrowheads, a little wider were dart points(a light weight,skinny 6foot spear), and even larger still would have been used on a spear, wider still were knife's. Most "arrowheads" folk's find were used as knive's. I understand the use of wider stone points to meet present days laws, but they are still not TRUE arrowheads. They would be more on the scale of a dart point. I'm thinking Bone would be the way to go for the modern day hunter that wants same size/weight arrowheads. Thanks for the help and comments...

Wow!Are they from New York sites?

Yes, They were all found by me in corn fields here in Orange County, NY. The large blade is Paleo, about 10,000 years old. The smaller,hand held ones are a gift from Washington State, and are around 500-1000 years old.
