Arrow Makers Name/Logo
« on: July 27, 2009, 11:06:00 PM »
I was wondering how an arrow maker puts their name or logo on their custom arrows.  The ones I have seen look too similar and complicated for each one to be done by hand.  Do they use a decal or what. This is on dipped arrows generally.

In the past I have used a rubber stamp to apply a "maker's mark" rather than an actual name or signature. I don't do this any longer because I need an extra day to be sure the ink is dry and doesn't smear with the clear coat.

When I made Superceders, each shaft was burn-branded in the middle on the grain for nock alignment, with the letters TW (for Tallahatchie Woodworks) and a 3-digit number that matched the deflection class, like 480 for shafts in the 50-55# range.

We built a jig with the brander mounted underneath so that each shaft could be centered and properly oriented for the brand.

Some of them are on a wrap. I am sure onstringer could confirm this.
