Decron on a Kanati
« on: July 28, 2009, 03:30:00 PM »
I am aquiring a Kanati which has a fastflight string on it.  Has anyone changed over to decron on the Kanati and if so how does it perform for you.
Thanks.

Lynn, I have not shot the Kanati, but I did have a Shrew at one time that shot very well with dacron B-50;  also a Martin Savannah that really did well with it.  Don't over build the string (12 strands will do up to 55/60 pounds.

I have a Kabekona that I switched from F-F to B-50, shoots well and is silent!!!

Any bow made will preform well with dacron, if tuned proper to your shooting. Just because it is reinforced to handle f.f. materials, is no big deal!
I like newer materials because it let's me shoot heavier arrows and wears better with less maintenance. Not to say if properly maintained, Dacron will wear good also. Only you can decide if it's the one for you. Sure beats having to twist up a sinew or linen string, like our past archers! Good shootin, Steve

Most of my bows use B-50, however, my LaClair Graying Spirit made by John McCulough uses a FF type string.  I can say that this bow shoots better with Dynaflight 97 than B-50.  I'd shoot D-97, 450+ or 8125 if the bow is able to handle it over B-50.

Switching from a FF type material to dacron you can generally expect more handshock, more stretch, more creep, less durability, less performance, and the "twang" will change pitches--usually a little higher.

It will vary depending on the material, how the string is made, how many strands, etc.
