Tuning with No Goves.....HELP
« on: July 28, 2009, 09:55:00 PM »
I am trying to tune my wife's longbow and with the 1816 arrows she is shooting it is still showing stiff. I added another 80 grains to the back of the insert and that helped. She has a short draw and is pulling about 25#. I am thinking the No Glove is pushing the string off center a bit more on release. I am going to make a new string and have her try it that way but just thought I would throw this out there and see what others think.

The No Glove adds a lot of weight to the center of the string and slows it down. 1816 is awful stiff for 25# even without the No Glove.

For what it's worth I shoot and 1816 full lenth with a 30" DL on a 35 lb bow. I think she's still stiff  with/without  the no-glove, like vermonster said.

I pull 26.5 inches, and use a 1616 for a 25# bow, without the No-Glov.

That arrow is indeed too stiff for that weight and draw length.  Even 1616 may be on the stiff side for 25#.   My wife shot 1616, 27" long on a 32# bow years ago.
