Tough BHd period!
« on: July 30, 2009, 10:01:00 AM »
Forget about single bevel and all that jazz - was shooting 160 grizzlys practicing yesterday evening when arrow went through arget and struck a brick. I saw the sparks fly and figured what happened - found arrow lating on ground with a brick sticking out of the dirt that had about a quarter of the brick knocked off.

That grizzly didn't have one lick of damage -NONE - not even a curled tip and it looked as though the brick was hit side on square. Shot alot of BHds in my day - never found one this tough - seen videos of many shot into bricks and such but they were worth litte after the shot - I can sharpen this grizzly and take it hunting.

Not a single bevel - double bevel arguement or statment  :knothead:  . I was just like WOW - that is tough steel.

Shoot straight,

Grizzlys are one tough head, no doubt -- bombproof, simple and effective.

I have an Ace Standard in my basement that's been on my go-to stumping arrow since 2004. I couldn't begin to guess how many rocks I've nailed with that head, and yet I could take a few minutes with a file and hunt with it tomorrow.

Funny...I did the same thing a while back with a judo....

Here's a couple of pics of an AD/Judo shot from a 70# MOAB....I had a little baseball sized water bottle sitting on top of the paver and I guy wanted to see if I could hit it again from 30 yards and I came up just a tad low....the arrow came back toward me skidding 20 yards before it stopped in the grass.

The arrow was no worse for wear, and so was the judo....

It amazes me how tuff our equipment is sometimes.

Now Terry, momma is not going to be happy when she sees you just chipped her landscape rocks.  :scared:

Here's the broadhead Clingish was talking about:

Stuck in the rock!

No worse for wear!

It's a Magnus 125gr, I believe.

The Grizzly is one of the biggest bangs for the buck.  They are inexpensive, made of good steel, hold a keen edge through much abuse, and will keep running long after most other heads are in the scrap heap.

Best

Anyone remember the satelitte 2 blades? I stuck one of those in the neighbors brick wall one time - bout 20 something odd years ago. It did not damage either. Killed a pig with that same head on a Wensel hunt in Florida. That was a tougher head.

Well if you did tear up that Magnus I hear they will replace it for you. I have some of those as well but have yet to use them. Think this year wil be to try and kill with a woodsman elite and the grizzly.
