Brace height help
«
on:

I have picked up a couple of old Wing bows by Head Ski to use for form practice, one for me and one for a grandson. Can anyone help with the recommended brace height for:
Falcon 62”, 35#@28
NightHawk 60”, 20#@28
Thanks

Man bud I searched pretty hard on here and could not find anything. I do know if you search for -How I tune a bow, from an old timer. You will see that Ssamic had an old Wing Falcon he was looking for the brace height on. I would P.M. him and ask him what he figured out. Some one suggested asking in the collectors forum, so, I did that and could not find anything on your bows brace. Good luck at least you have one lead and a bump to the top. Good luck. TTT

Thank you sir. I will give Ssamic a try.
I am reading and learning all I can about this sport and I gotta learn in a hurry, I have been a grandpa for more than a decade already.
If all else fails it looks like I will try my hand at making a flemish string 4" shorter than the bow and start twisting till it quietens down some.
This traditional stuff sure is fun.

I have a Falcon from the Head Ski era. It shoots well at around 7.75" Start there and adjust to suit.

Thank you mahantango. I will try that with the Falcon.
Anyone with more experience than me want to take a stab at the NightHawk which is 2" shorter and 15# lighter than the Falcon?
Would you guys try higher or lower?

7 1/2 inch should be a good starting point.

There is no certain brace. Start those bows around 7 1/2 and work to where it shoots quietly.
Maybe it will be 7 1/2....maybe 8 1/2. You find your spot, it may be different for you than any other shooter. If you buy flemish twist strings, buy only 3" shorter than the AMO bow length and then twist to "your" brace.
