Double Vision Optics
«
on:
August 12, 2009, 04:43:00 PM »
I started gathering up my hunting supplies to get ready to start scouting and I was looking threw my binoculars and noticed everything I looked at was double. I can't figure it out I guess they took a hard hit and now there is an alignment problem.

Maybe you have them set to 'beer goggle' mode? :D
Actually, this will be a silly question, but you did make sure that they are setup for you still, right? They didn't move apart or get out of focus? I'm sure you did, but you didn't say specifically.
If that is not the case, then it does sound like they may have taken a knock and have something internal loose, but that is just my best guess as well.

Yes they will focus out all of the blur and be crystal clear just double vision.

That is really bizarre. I'm going to google 'how binoculars work' and see if I can figure anything out...

Also, judging from some of the things I'm reading, you can try finding an 'Optical Service' for repair, which seems to mean either an eyeglass repair shop or a camera shop.
Binocular and Telescope repair shops area also an option, but appear to be fairly rare.
They will likely charge around $100 or so to do the job (based off what I've read, I have no experience with this myself), so you would have to decide if it was worth that much or if you should try it yourself. Trying it yourself may mean that you end up buying a new pair, but if they aren't worth the repair cost, you may as well take a whack at it first if you are going to trash them anyway.
Here is an article that lists a telescope dealer in WV, I have no clue how close this would be for you, or even if they are still in business.

This is worth a read before trying it yourself:
