Need help with KME and Silver Flames

I just started using my KME knife sharpener. I got through the knives just fine. I started on some silver flame broadheads, most of these just need a little touch up, I was wondering if someone could recomend a good starting angle,and grit, that will not require me to take off much material. Thanks

I use a 25% angle and use the finest grit stone.

If you've got a hard Arkansas (white), that'll work for ya unless the heads are dinged up.

I chuck my head in tight but leave my angle screw slightly loose. Then i take my 10x magnifing eyepiece and make sure the angle of stone in the jig and angle of SF shoulder are exactly flush or parallel or the same. I then take the fine stone and sharpen to the point while flipping the head after each stroke. Then I take same stone at same angle and give it 2-3 hard strokes on ONE side on the very edge to create a Micro burr. Then i take out head of the KME jig and move over to my leather strop with sharpening rouge and flip flop back and forth with LIGHT (weight of BH only pressure)to get Razor Sticky Sharp.

Put the head in the clamp with the base of the ferrule tight against the jaws then swing the tip out to get the blade you're sharpening as close to parallel with the front of the clamp as possible. Then color the bevel with a magic marker. Eyeball the angle as close as you can, then take a couple strokes with a dry stone and see where the ink was removed. If the ink is gone from the shoulder of the bevel but not the cutting edge, that's telling you the angle is set too low. If it's taking the ink off the cutting edge but not the majority of the bevel, that means you're angle is set too high. Adjust till the dry stone removes the ink from the whole bevel then sharpen the head just the same as you would a knife. It's important that you finish with into the edge strokes, flipping the clamp every pass. I use all three grits unless the head is still very sharp to begin with. Thanks for all  the great advice, I will try it in the AM. I ran out of steam sharpening everything in sight tonight. This KME knife sharpener is the coolest thing since Saran wrap.

Sharpster, I've watched your video online, bought the broadhead sharpener and am in process of sharpening some new STOS heads--doesn't seem as if they're getting very sharp. I am using a new "india" stone. Any tips?

Give me a call any evening before 8pm eastern and I'll see if I can't help you out while we're on the phone. My first guess is that your India stone may not be coarse enough for the initial bevel setting/sharpening.
