I've got a "Brack" problem
« on: August 19, 2009, 11:21:00 AM »
For those of you who own Brack's do you find you need to "overspine", "under spine" or go dead on for you arrows to get perfect flight?  My Shadow shoots hard and consistent but I can't seem to get perfect arrow flight with it.  The bow is beautiful and feels so good but my eye is picking up a slight kick right off the bow that straightens out within 6 feet.

Could be several reasons for that.  You might want to do some close bale shooting to determine if its you causing the wobble.  You could be torquing the bow a little.  Other than that I shoot pretty normal spine arrows out of my stable of Quests.

My Legend is 58# at 29" arrows are 31" 2216, work very well.
I would say that is middle of the spine road.

I found with my brack quest that it was very sensitive to brace height, and that made huge differences on arrow flight.

I have a 62", 64#@28" Quest and shoot AD Trads out of it and they fly like darts, 30" long with 100gr brass inserts and 300 gr heads. Also shoot 80# lam birch arrows out of it that are 30" with 250 gr heads. My brace is 7 3/4" also.

Love my Quest!

I shoot CX Heritage 350's out of my Phantom.  I have a 29 inch draw, 30.5 inch arrows and 145 grain points.  The bow pulls 60# at 29 inches.  I thought the the arrows would be overspined, but the 250's come out of that bow sideways.  I had some trouble with my arrows kicking left off the shelf.  I started shooting cock feather in and have not had a problem since.  I keep my brace height at 7.5 inches with a fast flight string.

Herdbull,

You hit it right on the head.  I had to raise my brace height from 7 1/4" to 7 3/4" and it all went away!  Thanks to all for your help!

I've got 3 Bracks, two Wes Wallace, and the one piece bows I make for myself are styled off of the Wallace, so know to keep all these bows braced about 7 3/4 for my arrow set up. Mike
