I am hoping to run into one of these guys this afternoon, I have a day of work to get through and then an evening hunt all to myself! Gotta love those velvet bucks.

I have been hunting with traditional gear for three years now, and have taken three Doe Mule Deer. I am hoping that this will be my year for a buck! But if a nice Doe comes past me I will definately loose an arrow in her direction.

As my daddy used to say. " you can't tag a big buck by tagging little ones " patience and selection. Good luck this year.

Here is another view of that bigger buck, the pictures were taken through a Leica spotting scope on 60X at around 700yds so the quality is not the best.

Good luck. Looks like a great buck and beautiful country. I'll have to check into Utah's early season for out of staters. Might be able to try some year before school starts. Tough traveling to hunt as a teacher.

The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

They have done what big Mule Deer do best, Dissapear! I still hunted into their bedding area and found a granola bar wrapper and fresh boot tracks. I guess when you are 30 Minutes from downtown Salt Lake City hunting pressure is expected. The hunt goes on!
