Increase spine with arrow wraps?

A buddy of mine was bare shaft tuning today and his arrows were showing a slight weak spine (nock left, right hand shooter) Another guy told him that after he puts on his arrow wraps and fletching his arrow will straighten out because it increases spine. Sound right? I thought wieght on either end would decrease spine.

Adding weight to the back has the same effect that subtracting weight from the front does. So yes that sounds correct to me. IMO I think it will be the feathers more than the wrap that makes the difference.
Adding weight to the front makes arrows react weaker, taking it off makes them act stiffer. Good luck.

Mo. Huntin has it right. I tend to like my arrows bareshafting slightly weak. When I fletch them up I always get great arrow flight.

I'm gonna guess it has more to do with drag (why feathers make arrows react stiffer). I'm not sure 5gr of nock end weight (Wrap) would be negligible.
And...I agree with Bill.

Most wraps weight more than 5 gns.And yes the drag has a stiffening effect. If you have an arrow too weak or want to shoot a heavier point just use bigger feathers with more helical to bring them around. If you don't tune a bareshaft a little weak most times you will be too stiff if you add big feathers or wraps.

....Quality deer management means shooting them before they get tough....
