northern california shooters?
« on: August 24, 2009, 06:29:00 AM »
my dear friend phillip was just out for a visit.  he lives in northern ca. trinidad to be exact.  he is having trouble locating shooters, and clubs in the area.  he needs folks to shoot with.  he is a great shot and a lifetime archer.  he does alot of roving practice on the beach chasing ballons with judos. i know there has got to be shooters and clubs out there, so please let me know and i will get you in touch with him.  you will not be sorry.
thanks-christopher

CJC,

Yes, this is very nice country and would be a heaven for a bow hunter since you have access to Redwood National Park and Six Rivers National Forest as well.  However,  this is way up on the N. California coast where not many of us venture and although you likely to find plenty of people to like the great outdoors they are more likely to be "growers" rather than "hunters" in this part of California.  Just to give you an idea,  Trinidad is a full five and a half to six and a half hours away from San Francisco or even Sacramento and you pass by way too much good hunting property just to get there.  Best of luck to him and his best bet is to look for an archery or sporting goods shop and start from there...or a gun club?
Keep flinging those shafts!

I'm in Santa Rosa and have a friend in Trinidad that's been asking me to come up and check out some land, supposedly holding some nice bucks. What zone are you in?

Best luck for archery gear for your buddy is right here and the sponsors here. Top notch, seriously.

I live in McKinleyville (just 7 or 8 miles south of Trinidad) I would love to have another Trad shooter to shoot with. Humboldt Archers have a local club (in Eureka). They put on some great 3D shoots. Most of the Guys shoot wheel bows but there are a few of us who just like sticks and strings. Hat Creek frequents here and he lives in Eureka. We shoot together every once in a while. Tell your friend to email me. [email protected].

One of the articles in the laws of the Scorton Archers runs thus:—
" VII, Item. For as much as
"the exercise of Archery is lawful, laudable, health-
“ful and innocent.; and to the end that. God's Holy
"Name may not be dishonored by any of the society,
"it is agreed and hereby declared, that if any of them
"shall that day, curse or swear, in the hearing of any
"of the company, and the same be proved before the
"captain or lieutenant, he shall forthwith pay down
"one shilling, and so proportionate for every oath;
"to be distributed by the captain to the use of the
" poor of that place, or township where they shoot;
"and in case of refusal, or neglect to pay the same,
"then such party to be excluded from shooting, till
"payment is made as aforesaid."
