Plain & Simple "Red" cedar arrows
« on: August 24, 2009, 05:07:00 PM »
Not actually red-cedar arrows but they are “red” cedar arrows. Does that make sense? Anyway I decided to make some plain & simple cedar arrows with trade points this year to hunt with. Thought I would share some pictures and give a link to a slide-show of these arrows if anyone wants to look at them.

Not to ruffle any feathers or anything, but these were plain & simple to make. I have been making nothing but cane arrows to shoot for the past 5-6 years, believe me if you have put time in making cane arrows you know what I mean about plain & simple when you make some cedars.

How many grains? How'd you do the feathers with the discolored edge? These are plenty nice arrows!

Straitera,,, these are a bit lite they are just under 600 grains, they vary a little because of the trade points and sinew wrap. I have gotten really technical about the matched weights in the past and have made matched sets +/- 5grains before.

As for the barring on the feathers, I did that with a Q-tip and leather dye. Very easy to do and it breaks up solid white "flag" look in your quiver.

Thanks to you all.

That looks sharp.  I like the dye job on the feathers.

Bushytail,,,they are homemade "trade-points" that I made from an old saw blade.

Hey Dano,,how you doing? You must have survived the trip to Cloverdale and Compton's alright! All I need now is for the leaves to start turning and the bucks to start rubbing   ;)  .
