water-proofing Bow Hhush
« on: August 26, 2009, 01:24:00 PM »
Just ordered some Bow Hush for my recurve.  Of all the reviews the only drawback was some possible absorption of water in wet conditions.  What can be done to make Bow Hush more water-proof ?

I doubt you'll find it an issue.  Just pluck the string a couple of times and voila.

It has it's natural lanolin on it so it doesnt get waterlogged.

Magoo and Joseph,
Thanks for the replies.  Wasn't expecting the Bow Hush to hold alot of water, but to varying degrees all wool can hold some water.  Just fine tuning my set-up and gear.  Lanolin, silicone, ScotchGuard are some of the treratments I'm considering.

Scotchguard will work just fine. Folks also need to remember that water also builds up on the string, arrow shaft, and limbs not just their silencers. A simple pluck of the string will clear a lot of water off your entire setup.

That's a good question that I've never considered.  Thanks for the tips.

Yep i hunted in the rain this fall and it was comming a huge shower.

Long story short i just plucked my string a couple of times and 2 minutes later i made my first trad kill on a nice Alabama 8 pointer.

I just ordered several more last night and Terry said they would ship them monday.

I will never use any other product, they really silence my bows especially my PSA X Widow.

That's one of the things I lide best (beside the fact they are the quietest things I hav e found).
Pluck the string a couple times and you're good to go!
