CT Bear Hunting Season??
« on: September 01, 2009, 02:07:00 PM »
Hello Everyone,

The black bear population in CT is healthily growing and it may be time to consider hunting bears to manage the population.  Currently, there is NO bear season in CT, but I contacted the DEP about it today.  I am curious if there is anyone out there who knows anything about the possibility of a bear season in CT or has had experience with petitioning for a hunting season before that can give me some advice as to how it is done?

Thanks and God Bless!
Erik

What is your DEP's stance on it. In our state, if you don't have F&W dept backing showing the biological need, you'd be going nowhere.

I think it is a consideration.  The DEP really decides these things in CT... I think...
