Do ya'll think a 625 grain arrow is to heavy for a 50# d/r long bow? I'm drawing 28'' and the bow is 60'' long. I am looking at this weight for elk and bear. I'm using Abowyer Brown Bears with 75 grn steel adapters and 30grn aluminum inserts. Too much for the bow or good to go? Thanks!

625 should be fine. Your at 12.5gpp so you should be near your max penetration threshold.

I think you will be fine, that setup is close to the one I am currently using for elk. I am using an arrow weighing 610 grains (total weight), with a 52#@29" Tolke Whip and eclipse four blades. I wouldn't go any heavier or you will start getting deminishing returns regarding penetration.

The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

I shoot 625 gr. arrows out of my 60" 51#27" recurve. They work real well.
