anyone else have durability issues with Carbonwood 3000s?
« on: September 14, 2009, 05:00:00 PM »
previously had only used CX terminator black shafts and never had a problem unless I actually hit one arrow with another...

I picked up a dozen Vapor Carbonwood 3000s, and had noticed a couple shafts cracking or breaking at the insert on any solid impact.   I was out bare shafting yesterday and had one shaft crack just from slight pressure sliding the insert in.

anyone else have similar issues?   I never felt the need to do the 'outside footing' with an aluminum shaft with the CX shafts...but I feel like the Vapors are going to need them...

hickstick, I had some of the a few years ago, and I broke every one of them.  And, yes, they all broke at the tip...cracked or mushroomed.

Wonder if you footed them with alluminum if they would last better?

I don't think a person should have to foot carbons to make them last.  Durability is the main issue they sell to most people.  I still have the Arrow Dynamics arrow that a Tradganger sent me two years ago, and it's taking a horrible beating and keeps on ticking.  No footing required on it.  If I buy any new carbons, it will be ones that can stand on their own....like the AD.

I agree george.   I never had a problem with the CX shafts. few years ago I actaully sunk a WW 1.5" into a tree and used the arrow to try to walk the head loose and ended up snapping the WW in half.... the CX shaft never let go and I'm still shooting it today.

the carbonwoods are too fragile for my liking.
