I, too, advise buying a used bow on the classifieds here, but not before you've had a chance to go to some trad shoots/rendezvous and try out a number of bows.  Not wise to lay down that kind of money until you have a pretty good idea of what you like.  Good luck.

There are always a few Quinn Stallions on  here and other sites, about$300 new. They shoot as fast, draw as smooth as most high dollar bows, and the Aluminum riser is bomb proof. Check them out at Quinns Archery.com, great folks to boot.

With that much money you can buy a pick of the litter top quality used bow right here. Guarantee it'll be everything & more you're hoping for with the new bow.

For that kind of money you can have a custom bow built just for you.  You just have to find one of the upstart bowyers that haven't raised their prices yet.

You realy can`t say anything more than what was said already.Maybe if you shoot what you have the rest of this year, and come spring, you`ll have more $$ saved up.Because some of them high $$$ bows still cost $500 to $800 used. And sometimes you can get a package deal.Bow,quiver,case,etc.Something else to think about.

It's real close to hunting season in OK, and switching to a new bow will cost you several weeks of tuning, practicing, etc. and you won't be nearly as familiar and comfortable with it as you are with what you're shooting. A bow in the mid 40#s will kill deer. The important thing is putting the arrow in the right place. That's going to be easier with a bow you have shot for a while.

You can frequently get great deals on used Bear and Martin (or DH - whatever) recurves on the big auction site for WAAAAAAY less than $450.  As I write this, I see a decent looking Bear Grizzly (48#) that's currently going for $66.46   (for another 3 hours and 14 minutes) - for instance.

That's assuming you don't find something on the classifieds that suits you.

Quinn sure makes a great bow for the buck! But check out your options that have been put before you. Great advice.
