If you shoot all year going hunting is just another day that you might shoot.
I set no limits on myself but by then have shot enough I know what I can or can't do.I practice all the time for 30+yd shots and then do what I can to get shots under 20 when I hunt

Right before and during the season I like to do a lot of "one shot" practice. I pick up my bow go out to the range and shoot one arrow, put the bow back and do something else. Try to do this several times a day. Whatever range I can put 9 out of 10 "first shots" within 4 inches of my spot becomes my effective range.

I shoot in my basement in the mornings, i stand at the top of the stairs and shoot down to simulate a tree stand shot.

I shoot pretty much year round now. During the MN winter, I head to the garage a couple/few nights a week to keep in shooting shape....and relax
Always one arrow at a time, no target bullseye (covered bag) ...working on form only.
Always ready to go.

Ready to hunt? Usually about 3 days after opening day even after shooting all year. Of course this year I was a pumped and confident as I've ever been, shooting spot on and already to get-r-done for the late season and the wife decided she was gonna have a heart attack and double bypass (she's much better now). I think she was just jealous of all the time I was spending with the bow and in the woods.

Of course practice with whatever clothes you will be wearing when you hunt...
I have found for me that some days are diamond; and somedays are stone.
That means I will be walking to a stand or roaming; and I am either hitting everything with perfection; or missing to where I am devistated.
If that happens; I stop and shoot until I figure out what is going on.
I have had atvs and motorcycles drive through the woods and scare everything; and ruin the day; and if on stand; it ruins the mood; and I might stop hunting for the day or night. I enjoy hunting; but having someone do that; and that includes having a person driving by at a distance shoot bullets at me when I elk bugle- in bow season- it can get me mad; and then I have to regain my composure; and that might mean not hunting the rest of the day.
Other than that; I hunt every chance I get; and hunt hard. The closer the better.
I am ready to hunt all the time.
