Questions For Bare Finger Shooters

1.What pound pull is your bow?
2.Do you shoot dacron or fast flight string?
3.Do you double wrap your serving or use any other measure to cushion your fingers?
4.Do you have any feeling left in your fingers and do they fall off when you get older?

4. Currently I'm 29 but will let you know as I get older. Once you have the calasus on your fingers your good, if you don't go shoot more til theyre there. Ps one less thing to lose in the woods.

Keuka, Bare finger shooter for over 20 years, All types of strings,weights from 50 to 58 lbs. No I don't double serve. Currently shootin, 55lbs longbow.
  I have never had problems from shooting. I have had spells from Carpul Tunnel. But from the type of work I have done. Welding, grinding, swinging hammer, etc. Oh, and a whole lot of string twisting.

  I also believe Ed Pitchkites from Indiana, has shot barefinger for many years, bows in the 70's range. Good shootin, Steve

1. Been doing it for 30 yrs or so - so let's say from 15 lbs to 75 lbs....been shooting around 65 lbs for the last several years.

2. From Dacron to FF, using FF last 15 yrs or so.

3.  Triple serve.

4. Nope - Dad is 71 and has been shooting bare fingered for dog's years.  It callouses up and no problem.  If I don't shoot for a month or so I might get a small blood blister on the ring finger when I start back up but it'll callous.  Sometimes a little pain is good for ya!

I just spent 3 days doing a living history encampment archery demo. Bare fingers with a 35# Lakota style pony bow. Lots of arrows shot but still feel my fingers.(I'm feelin it in my shoulders too...)
 Regular flemish B-50 string on all my bows and I bare finger,most of the time,up to a 50+ pound draw. Just calloused up fingers, so far...
Now, if I could just remember to have something on my bow hand to prevent those nasty feather cuts...  :(

i've been shooting bare fingers since 1955, all sorts of weights but now mostly 40-45. don't use built up serving.
still have feeling in my fingers.
