*Wear your safety harness!*

A friend of mine fell from his stand around 11AM yesterday. He wasn't found till midnight.
It doesn't sound good for him.
Just a horrible reminder that no deer is worth that. If you aint gonna wear a safety harness keep your feet on the ground!

Sorry to hear about your friend. My prayer are with him.

As for the rest of you, please take this great advice to wear your harness
Matt 6:33-Seek the Kingdom of God, above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything that you need.

Wishing your friend the best…I’ve gotten that phone call before, it is NO fun!

A great friend of mine fell 10-21-96 and left him a paraplegic…he still gets out and hammers the deer and turkeys.

My thoughts are with you both.

I just learned that a friend of mine fell. He messed up his hip, ribs and has about 160 stitches in his back.
Be careful.

Any update on your friend...I have experience with a good friend and a spinal cord injury.

Feel free to contact me if you need someone to talk to about this.

Don't like to see these threads. And to have two wounded brothers is horrible. Prayers sent to both men. If this doesn't get you wearing one then nothing will. If anyone needs one I have 2 extras in the basement. PLEASE contact me and I'll ship it to you.FREE!!!

I keep a harness at every elevated stand I use. That way I can't ever forget it, because if I did, I would be tempted to hunt without it. Now one is always at hand.

My thoughts and prayers wre with these guys, and all who have been hurt by such a fall.

I have a good friend who fell two weeks ago in
CO. while elk hunting. Fell 20 feet after getting
out of his stand. He broke his hip bone and
a vertebrae and still managed to walk a mile
up hill to find help. One tough SOB. He using a
walker for the next 10 weeks. Very lucky in my
opinion.

Very lucky Paul.

I am as bad as anyone (Ok  not really but I have my days) we all need to think safety.  We have the equipment.  We have the experience.  We KNOW what can happen.

A fall restraint device won't make you superman, but it sure can save your a$$.  and the rest of you too.

I have been involved with this training for a long time.  My hunter ed. cadre has turned a lot of people on to harnesses. Why ?  Because they are the best things going so far.

An e-mail quotes some Texas Ranger as responding to a question  " why do you carry a .45. . . .  cause they don't make a .46 was his answer.

We have full body harnesses that are heads and tails better than a belt and tons better than nothing at all.

Please,  think about using one every single time you are more than a few feet up there.

Are they a pain. . .  sure  kinda.   You get used to dealing with them.  I guarantee the first time you fall, you will understand.

I have come out of a stand   on purpose (for training others) numerous times, including on film.  I KNOW what happens.  It isn't pretty.

Please don't let the Gang hear that you fell and got hurt.  Please don't put your family thru that.
