Feather chopper

Fletched 2 arrows so far in the traditional manner with scissors and thread. If buying a chopper should I get 4 or 5" cut for 28" river cane or dowel shafts?

Get the 5, you can trim the feathers shorter after you chop em once. All ya gotta do is lay the chopped feather back down into the chopper and slide it an inch or so to where ya wanna chop it again.

I am a ways away in Florence but thanks. That is kind of how I have cut the few I have done with scissors I think, as I like that traditional look.

I would use 5" but this is personal pref.

I would like to comment on the little chopers. I bought two and they are great. It is easy and I even taught my wife how to do it. I used the old Tom Sawyer trick showing her how much fun it was. Got her to do a dozen while I was fletching.

These choppers work well and will save you money.

My wife, this really has not much to do with the topic on tap but is related, sure is happy with my choppers.5"-4" don't matter. I use'em cause it ain't good to tick off the cook. It smells whole bunches better around here.

If you have many to chop, you'll be ahead by getting a Vario.  I used Little Chopper's for years, but as long as the Vario is available I won't be buying anything else.  Easier, safer, and a better cut.

Don't bet me wrong--I got my money's worth and then some from the LC's--but the Vario is just a huge step above.
