Anyone applied snake skins to their arrows. Looking for info on dipping the arrow after the skin was applied. Like what was used before and after the skin was applied. Thanks

Guru...Curt Caberra has done quite a few. I think he did an article for TBM recently on this as well.
You may want to contact him.
I have done it a couple times and had good success using water based poly both dipped and spray-on. Normally I dipped the shaft to seal it then apply the skin, and finish off with a couple coats of spray over the skin.

I read the article but he didn't go into much detail on what process he used after he applied the skins. Have you ever dipped the arrows after you applied the skin. I don't want the skins to come off after I put them on.

I have dipped them in water based poly but switched to the spray. Neither one seemed to hurt the skins.
Another POC would be Ted Fry at Raptor Archery. He did some for me and they are sealed over the skins. Looks like he dipped them but it would be best to ask him his process.

I glue the snake skin on with wood glue, let it dry. I high lite the the skin with gold pin strips and then dip in gasket lacquer 3 times. I have also brushed on Watco Clear Lacquer, but found the GL is faster and looks just as good.

Thanks for all the info. I was hoping someone had success with the gasket laquer.

Here's a couple I did. I don't use all the fancy stuff. Foam brushed polycrylic over mine. Easy, dries fast and never had a problem with durability.
