Went out this morning to a new spot. Had a doe come in along the edge of the corn field but out of range. Finally after a while she decides to come over and check out a scrape at about 15 yds. I thought, as soon as she turns, easy broadside shot. Nope, she quickly turned into some brush giving me no shot. Again, she begins to come by me at around 10 yds...one or two more steps, so I begin to draw. At half draw, she looks up at me. I hold for eternity which probably only lasted about one minute, before she again turned away into some brush. Finally, she moved out to about 20 yds and wanted to follow a trail. I got a broadside shot, but I didn't pick a small enough spot. She runs about 20 yds and stops. I get another arrow out, and she decides that she still wants to take that trail. She comes back and mocks me by sniffing my first arrow. Again, a broadside at probably a little over 20, and again I miss. She again runs out to about 50 yds and stops. I get another arrow. Again she says, I'm taking that trail dog gonnit. This time I decide to let her come a little farther, but when she passes my first two arrows, she turns away. As she moves to my max range, she presents a pretty hard quartering away shot, I pick a spot smaller than an entire deer and let one go. This one looked good, but she was on edge and spun out of there before the arrow reached her. This time she said enough and got the heck out of Dodge. Three shots at the same doe and three misses. I've never had 3 shots at the same deer before, and the one's I've had two shots at didn't live to tell about it. I sometimes think does are harder to hit than bucks. I guess that's why hunting is so darn fun.
